The Grand Tynemouth - A Real Wedding - Lindsey and James

Here is the newest post for my Real Weddings feature. I was lucky enough to be Maid of Honour at this wedding, Lindsey is my best friend and we have been friends since we were 4 years old. She is an amazing, kind and loving human being and I don't know what I would do without her. She has found her soul-mate in James and this wedding day just showed how much they love each other. When did you and your husband meet?

We met in 2007 at work but became a couple in 2009. I knew I wanted to marry him from the first day we met.

How long were you together before you got engaged?

3 and a half years

How long were you engaged for?

18 months - Im glad we had that amount of time to plan everything

How did he propose?

He proposed on my 28th birthday in bed and with some help from our 5 month old son at the time. It was amazing having my little family around me.

Where were the Stag and Hen Do's?

James went to Benidorm with a group of friends, but I stayed local with a great night of food and karaoke, it was great fun!

Where did you get married?

The Grand Hotel in Tynemouth.

How many venues did you visit before you found the one?

We went to 4 Venues and none of them amazed me, until we went to The Grand Hotel and I was blown away.

Who went with you to find your wedding dress?

Mum, and two of my bridesmaids. I found my dress quite quickly, it was good to have a few different people opinions though.

What was the theme of your wedding?

We didn't have a theme as such but all the stationary like the invitations and place names all had silver hearts. The colour scheme was dusty pink.

What part of the planning was the most exciting for you?

Picking the beautiful venue, it was so exciting and it was right at the beginning of the planning process so made me excited for things to come.

Did you do any DIY projects for your wedding

We made our own invitations and all of the table centrepieces.

How involved was your fiancé?

Not that much. He did get involved with picking the venue, the music and the suits.

What was the most stressful part of the wedding planning?

Trying to make everyone else happy.

What entertainment did you have?

We had a disco for the evening reception.

Did everything go to plan on the big day?

Yes, it was all exactly how we wanted it to be, a completely amazing day. Unfortunately, a  few weeks before the wedding James broke his foot so he was still on crutches on the day!

What would you say was untraditional about your wedding?

We did speeches in the lounge before the wedding breakfast as we wanted it to be a more relaxed experience. We also didn't have a traditional top table, we just had the best man and his partner and the maid of honour and her partner. Also maybe a groom on crutches lol.

If you had any advice for other brides on their big day what would it be?

Take everything in & watch ur family & friends from a far enjoying themselves as the day goes by so quickly

Where did you go on honeymoon

Portugal. We made it a family holiday with our little boy, Lewis.
