When I got married in June I don't think I actually thought about the whole name changing element. Obviously, I knew I was going to change my name but the work involved never crossed my mind until I actually started doing it. I started writing a list of everything I could think of that had my name on and that list started getting longer and longer; so I thought maybe Thom could just change his name instead, that way he can do the work and not me! Unfortunately, he wasn't up for this idea.
Wedding Saving Tips #1
Weddings are expensive, there is no way around it, even if you have the most budgeted friendly wedding you are still going to have to save up for it. I have been planning my wedding for 2 years and its now 4 months away and we are still trying to save every penny, however over the last 2 years, we have come up with a few tips on how to save money while still living our lives.
What to Book ASAP for your Wedding
I don't know if anyone else is the same but before I got engaged I thought I knew all about weddings and what actually happens at them. However, once I was engaged I had a "what on earth do I do now" moment and did not know where to begin, or what things we actually needed to book.
All of a sudden all my family and friends started asking me questions about the wedding like I was just meant to know what I was doing or what I actually wanted. What type of flowers I wanted, was I having a photographer and videographer? Where are we getting married? What entertainment are we having?...............
7 Tips for Picking the Perfect Wedding Venue

So you are engaged, what now? The venue is the first stage of getting everything else underway. Having the venue means you have a date, it means you have an idea of how much you need to save and it means you can start looking at everything else involved in planning your wedding.
It is hard picking a venue and narrowing down where, when and how much.
If you have been wanting to get engaged for a while you might already have some venues in mind or if the proposal came totally out of the blue you might not know where to start.
The Wedding Wonder Show - Belle Bridal Magazine
Since getting engaged I have been to my fair share of wedding fairs, probably too many but I just love them. Yes, your first few may be daunting so have a look at my Surviving your First Wedding Fair post for some tips, but once the initial 'deer-in-headlights' moment passes they are lots of fun.
I particularly like the ones organised by Belle Bridal Magazine when they do their Wedding Wonder Show, they have more stalls and it usually includes a fashion show.
I recently went to their show at The Biscuit Factory in Newcastle in the Biscuit Room. The Biscuit Room is a great location for a wedding fair in my opinion, lots of space and it has a bar so we are on to a winner straight away! I had been to The Biscuit Factory last year for a work event and straight away I saw the potential of it as an actual wedding reception venue, if you have a large amount of guests especially for the night time it would be amazing; it looks beautiful and easy to decorate, if you had live music I don't know how people could help but have an amazing time. If I didn't already have my venue this would of definitely been on my list to look at.
Unique Save the Date Ideas
I think Save the Dates have only been a big thing over here in the last few years, the idea has somehow crept its way across the pond from America. When we got engaged I was so excited about sending out Save the Dates as our wedding was two and a half years away when we first booked it. Designing Save the Dates was a good excuse to start a wedding project when everything else was so far off from needing to be sorted.
Granted we now have them sitting in a cupboard 9 months after getting them as I decided to give them out to my little sisters wedding which will be 14 months before our wedding.
(time is flying by, it's so scary!)
The Best Wedding Planning Apps

I am completely and utterly a digital girl, my phone is glued to my hand and I have been known to be on my iPad and iPhone at the same time pretty much looking at the same thing.
I am a self-confessed phone addict.
My life is on my phone and iPad, from meal planning to mine and Thom's appointments and reminders and not to mention all my social media and email, so planning this wedding was not going to be any different.
Surviving your First Wedding Fair
So once I was engaged that was it all I wanted to do was plan, plan, plan and this included dragging my nearest and dearest around every wedding fair that I could find.
I had gone to a few for my friends and sister when they were getting married (before becoming engaged) and my thoughts were that they were a bit of fun, I would laugh when people mistook me for the bride using the "ha ha I wish" line a few too many times. When you are not the bride you can wander round without a real care picking out ideas you think the bride may like.
